Amma Vodi for both government & private schools
Amaravati: Putting an end to the controversy regarding the implementation of Amma Vodi scheme, the state government on Sunday clarified that it would be applicable to poor students who study in government and private schools.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy during his walkathon had promised that if voted to power, his government would give Rs 15,000 to every mother who would send her child to a school of her choice. But recently the Finance minister had said the scheme would be restricted to children studying in government schools only.
This had created confusion among the poor. In the wake of this, the Chief Minister's Office on Sunday issued a clarification saying that the scheme will be applicable for all schools and that the orders to the effect will be issued soon.
The CMO recalled that the Chief Minister had explained the Amma Vodi scheme in the recent Badi Bata programme as well and hence there was no need for anyone having any doubts about it.
The mothers of poorer sections are eligible to get benefit if they send their children to schools either to government or private schools. The programme, the CMO said, aims at improving the literacy rate in the state.
