Amphan Cyclone: East Godavari administration alerts officials and fishermen
In the wake of the Amphan cyclone alarm, the East Godavari collector D Muralidhar Reddy has alerted the authorities that all the revenue divisions had to set up control rooms. Muralidhar Reddy ordered the tahsildars and MPDOs of coastal zones on Monday night. Officials of the Katrenikona, Allavaram, Amalapuram, Malikipuram, Rajolu, Mummidivaram, Polavaram zones in the Konaseema region along with Tuni, Uppada, Pothupallevu, Kakinada, and others have been alerted. Fishermen have been warned not to go fishing. The Collector ordered that the authorities be prepared to evacuate people from the low lying areas to safer areas if necessary.
On the other hand, it is already raining in Tamil Nadu along with South Coastal Andhra and Nellore districts in Andhra Pradesh. Officials have been alerted to the announcement of Amphan Cyclone, which is expected to move northwards, as it moves towards the Mediterranean Odisha and Bhubaneswar coast on the 20th and 22nd of this month. The authorities were ordered that they should ensure no tourists are seen in the areas. Collector Muralidhar Reddy has instructed the officials of the zonal authorities to examine the performance of various equipment used during the storm and prepare them accordingly.
The impact of the Amphan cyclone is raging on the shores of Rajol Island due to which the sea waves are getting heavy and advanced about 30 meters towards the shore. Huge tidal waves swept across the coast on the island of Rajol.
