An auto driver allegedly attempted rape on a five-year-old girl in Adoni

An auto driver abducted a five-year-old girl who was playing at home and took her to a distant place and raped her. The incident took place at Adoni, which created a sensation on Monday night. Sikander, the auto driver from Amaravati Nagar who came to Adonu suburban place to have a drink where the girl's family resides. The accused took the girl to an isolated place nearby Ranjala pond in his auto and allegedly attempted rape.

Upon hearing the girl's scream, Mallikarjuna and Vijaykumar who were passing by the area, rescued the girl. The locals handcuffed the auto-driver and handed him over to the urban police station. CI Chandrashekhar inquired about the incident and handed over the girl to the parents. However, the residents who were outraged raised a big concern at the police station till 10.45 pm. "The case has been registered under POCSO, kidnapping and attempted rape," the CI said.
