Anantapur: Make use of govt schemes, specially abled persons told Additional JC Subba Raju
Anantapur: The World Differently Abled Day was observed here on Tuesday by the Physically Disabled, Hizras and old aged Welfare Corporation. Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Additional Joint Collector Subba Raju said that Louis Braille was born blind, but he was responsible for the invention of Braille script which made millions of people all over the world read despite being visually handi-capped.
He proved that mental power and determination is more powerful than any handicap that disables a person. The central and state governments have introduced and are implementing a number of schemes for the welfare of the differently abled so that they too could compete with others, the joint collector said. There are 1,01,746 people with multiple handicaps in the district, he added.
Subbaraju said that all vacancies of the differently abled people will be filled in all departments by taking the issue of rule of reservation to the Collector's notice. The Additional Joint Collector disbursed financial assistance and other tools including tricycles, computers, audio-visual equipment, wheel chairs, lap tops to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
