Anantapur: People are of the notion that no virus survives in hot temperatures

Anantapur: Except for official closure of schools, colleges and cinema theatres, the people of the district are not feeling the heat of Covid-19. The people have a blind belief that the virus cannot survive in the heat conditions in the district. Presently the average temperature in the district is 39 degrees centigrade. Television channels showing people in cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru wearing masks, but this does not seemed to have an impact on local people who are still roaming without any fear psychosis.

Sujatha, an engineering college student says that the virus cannot survive in the district which registers high temperatures. April and May months will witness hot temperatures and no viruses of any kind will survive here. However, authorities need to keep a close tab on foreigners who visit the district.

Akbar Hussein, a chicken kabab trader observed that while the local people are unnerved on fears of coronavirus, they are not showing interest to consume chicken meat due to unfounded fears. Kabab sales dipped drastically during the past 10 days.

Theatres attendance was as usual until the government ordered for their closure as a precautionary measure. SC,ST,BC hostel students were sent home.

All government and political meetings have been minimised. The district administration has also ordered for closure of corporate malls including D-Mart, More and Reliance marts with effect from Friday (March 20). Rythu Bazaars and ordinary provisional stores are operating as usual. People are also asked to report movements of foreigners and even arrivals of locals from abroad.

Christian churches managers including Pastors and church councils have voluntarily announced closure of churches after 7 am on Sunday. Instead church services have been rescheduled from morning 5 am to 6.30 am. Even temples and mosques gatherings will be closed on Sunday.

Business establishments have been asked to display boards creating awareness on the symptoms and preventive measures of corona virus.

Meanwhile special wards have been readied in the new super specialty hospital buildings here for accommodating suspected corona patients. Ambulance services 108 and 104 have been kept ready to transport suspect cases from anywhere to the isolation wards.
