Andhra government files affidavit in High Court over shifting of capital to Visakhapatnam
The Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has filed an affidavit in the High Court on evacuation of capital to Visakhapatnam. In the petition, the government has said that it is awaiting the completion of the legislative process over evacuation of the capital. "There is no basis for the petitioner's concern over the shifting the capital, " petition reads.
While, Amravati Conservation Committee Secretary Gadde Thirupathi Rao has filed a petition in the High Court stating that the government is making efforts to move the capital from Amravathi to Vishakhapatnam. A meeting of the AP Secretariat Employees' Association was held in March where the government had decided to move the capital to Vishakhapatnam by the end of May. The three-member Tribunal, which is heard the case on April 24, has asked the central and state governments to file counters. The affidavit was filed in the High Court by Andhra Pradesh to this extent.
On the other hand, there is are speculations that the shifting of capital will be completed by the end of this month. At this time, the government filed an affidavit stating Jagan Mohan Reddy had given a clarity on the shifting of the the capital. The government says the bills are pending in the legislature. The decision would be made after the process is completed.
