Andhra govt requests Telangana to evacuate foreign returnees to the home state
COVID-19 Task Force Chairman Krishna Babu said there were minor problems in evacuating the migrants from abroad to the state of Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at a media briefing on Monday, he said that the Telangana government has decided to move all those who come to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad to Quarantine, regardless of the states they belong to. He said they are in consultation with the Telangana government.
He said that on behalf of Andhra Pradesh, a special reception centre at Shamshabad airport has been set up. He also said that the Telangana government had only given permission to the Paid Quarantine and that this caused migrant workers coming from the Gulf are said to be facing troubles. "We have already appealed to the Central Foreign Ministry to allow the Andhra Pradesh people to be evacuated to Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam and Tirupati airports, " Krishna Babu asserted.
He said that after getting permission from the Telangana government, Andhra Pradesh will set up a special counter for them at the airport in Shamshabad. On the other hand, a set of 120 people have arrived in Shamshabad airport on Saturday and it is likely that the second flight would arrive at Shamshabad airport on Monday evening at 9 PM where another set of people would reach the state.
