The Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken another crucial decision. It has been a major concern over the lack of facilities in government hospitals wherein people are unable to receive the treatment. Moreover, it has become the issue that poor are not in position to afford the cost of private hospitals. In this backdrop, state government has decided to recruit more than nine thousand medical posts in the state. By these appointments, the plight of the government hospitals would change.
The state government has put a huge burden on public health. Government sources say that over the last forty years, it is the first time that more than 9000 medical posts have been recruited by a single appointment. With the latest development, the state's 1,175 PHCs will operate 24 hours a day along with two doctors, staff nurses and pharmacists Experts point to human resource development in hospitals as an indicator of patient reassurance. This will lead to shortage of doctors in villages from big cities to big cities. There are currently one doctor in half of the PHCs. If the doctor goes on leave, the staff nurse will be left over resulting in problems to common man. This is no longer the case as each PHC will have two doctors, which operates 24 hours a day.
These include a team of gynecologists, Padeiatrics and anesthesiologists and Four gynecologists are being assigned to each of the 70 medical centers where the pregnant women would be delivered.
