Andhra Pradesh: The State Election Commissioner affair in Andhra Pradesh is taking news turns with the government withdrawing a petition to issue stay on the verdict given in the Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's case. The stay petition filed on behalf of Justice Kanagaraj was also withdrawn. The High Court asked if there were any objections to the petitioners filed on behalf of Nimmagadda Ramesh to which government asserted there is no such thing and withdrew the petition.

If that is the case with the government's petition in high court, another Caveat petition is filed in the Supreme Court by former minister Kamineni Srinivas pleading not to issue stay orderd on the verdict of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in the SEC case. Already the APPC Working President Mastan Vali has also filed a caveat against high court's verdict.

The High Court had on May 29 ruled that Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar should be appointed as the state election commissioner. The High Court dismissed the government's ordinance and GOs. The Court held that Article 213 does not currently authorise for the issuance of an Ordinance. Therefore, AP government has approached the Supreme Court challenging high court's verdict.
