The High Court on Thursday held a hearing on the petition against the painting of YSRCP flag-colours for the government offices in Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, Principal Secretary JK Dwivedi commissioner of Panchayat Girija Shankar have attended the high court for hearing. However, the High Court said that the hearing on the same issue is pending before the Supreme Court and adjourned the hearing for Friday.

A social activist from Guntur had earlier filed a petition in the High Court on the party's colors for panchayat offices. The high court ordered that the colors be removed. The state government has moved Supreme Court against the orders of the High Court. However, the Supreme Court also upheld the judgment of the High Court. In this context, the state government has issued 623 GO to paint the new clay colour along with the colours similar to the YSRCP flag. This is in addition to the already painted colors of the panchayat offices and the addition of clay.

Meanwhile, an advocate named Somayajulu filed a public interest litigation in the High Court claiming that the government has defied the court's orders and added the YSRCP colours along with clay colour. The court, which is hearing the case, has ordered the CS and Panchayati Raj department officials to attend and give an explanation and sought to know why a contempt court should not be filed against the government. Against this backdrop, the panchayat Raj department officials along with CS Nilam Sawhney were present in court today.
