Andhra Pradesh government brings ordinance of new Panchayat Raj act ahead of Local Body elections

The Andhra Pradesh government has made yet another sensational decision on Thursday. The state government has issued an ordinance in the on the cabinet's decision to reduce the duration of the election process for local bodies.
The government said it would impose a maximum of three years imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10,000 if they resort to any malpractice in the local body elections. The ordinance was issued to complete the process of election of local bodies within 13 to 15 days, excluding the counting time.
The Panchayat Raj Act (Amendment) Bill will reportedly be introduced and passed in the next budget session.
