Andhra Pradesh: Government likely to set up Defence Cluster at Donakonda

Donakonda of Prakasam district, which had been in new for quite some time is now in the news for a different reason, The YSRCP government headed by chief minister Jagan Moha Reddy who proposed three capitals for the state is likely to set up a defence cluster in Donakonda. The Industries and commerce minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy made a statement to this extent.

Speaking at the French-Indo Defense Expo -2020 in Lucknow, Minister of Industry Gautam Reddy said that the exports and imports from Krishnapatnam and Chennai ports near could be held at Donakonda. As part of the Make in India project, he said that they had taken the idea to the attention of the centre stating it to be an ideal location for the defence products industry.

Minister Gautam Reddy who met with the representatives from 35 countries at French Expo has said that the Donakonda region is crucial for the establishment of industries related to aerospace and defence. He said the AP government was ready to work with French companies. However, the government, which raised speculations over Donakonda being made capital, has now come up with another plan to develop the city.
