Andhra Pradesh Government takes steps to complete Veligonda project: Minister Audimulapu Suresh

Markapuram: Chef minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken all steps to complete the Veligonda project, announced the education minister Dr Audimulapu Suresh.

He participated in the foundation programme for the housing complex for the ousters of the Veligonda project from Gundamcherla, at Devarajugattu layout on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that to fulfil the dream of the Prakasam district people, the government is constructing the Veligonda project. He said that they have taken all measures to fulfil the lawful demands of the Veligonda oustees. He explained that as per the survey done in 2008, there were 3,000 oustees in the area, but the number increased to 5,534 by August 31, 2019.

He said that the government provided Rs 12.50 lakh as a one-time settlement to the eligible and taking necessary measures to complete the rehabilitation colonies for the people from submerging villages. The minister announced that the government has agreed to the demand of the Gundamcherla oustees and acquired 52 acres of land with Rs 50 crores budget. He advised the people to construct houses in their plots and live happily forever after.

The collector Dr Pola Bhaskara said that rehabilitation colonies are being arranged as per the likes of the oustees. He announced that all amenities will be provided to the colony at the Devarajugattu with Rs 14 crore.

The joint collector JV Murali, Veligonda project SE Nagesh, special collector Sarala Vandanam, Markapuram RDO M Seshireddy, YSRCP leaders P Krishnareddy, D Venkatareddy, Chalamareddy, and others also participated in the programme.
