Andhra Pradesh Government To Assist Hand-loom Weavers With Rs. 24000 Under YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh Government headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has recently launched pension scheme under YSR Pension Kanuka. As a part of the Scheme, the weaver pension scheme intends to provide financial assistance to handloom weavers.

The government will provide Rs 24,000 under the Scheme to each who has the loom, said district ADO Subba Naidu. He held a special meeting with village volunteers at the local council on Friday. Speaking at a conference hosted by MPDO Leelamadhavi, the ADO said that the government is working on the modernization of handloom works. The volunteers should select the eligible beneficiaries transparently.

"Beneficiaries will be selected for the implementation of schemes announced by the state government. on this account, the district, zonal and village level committees have been appointed." the official stated.

With the approval of these committees, a total of 6821 persons have already been identified in the district. The weavers who have rented looms are also eligible for the Scheme. The meeting was attended by volunteers from urban and rural areas and leaders of the hand-loom weavers' community.
