Andhra Pradesh Government to purchase discoloured paddy from farmers at Kakinada

Kakinada: Joint Collector Dr G Lakshmisha announced that the government was prepared to buy discoloured and damaged grain to support farmers affected by floods and cyclones in the district.

He conducted a review meeting via videoconference with Agriculture department officials on the steps to be taken to procure the discoloured and damaged grain. The purchase will be in accordance with government regulations. He said the field level authorities should be fully accessible to the farmers so that the farmers do not face any difficulty in selling the grain.

He said that it was estimated that 45,000 metric tons of grain was discoloured so far in the district. Call centre has been set up for the collection of discoloured grain in the district. He said that any problems can be reported by calling the call centre on 8886613611. He said that a special team has been set up at 20 paddy purchasing centres in the district.

Agriculture Department JD KVS Prasad and DD Rama Rao and others were present.
