Andhra Pradesh Government to recruit 180 posts in newly proposed Forensic Labs
Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy approved a proposal to recruit around 180 personnel for newly establishing two Forensic Laboratories in the State. The new Labs to be established each one at Tirupati and Visakhapatnam regions. These two are in addition to the existing one at Amaravati.
Even though the laboratory at Amaravati has been functioning with full potential, the government has realized that this could not meet the demand. More particularly, for implementing the newly enacting AP Disha Bill, 2019, the pressure on the Forensic Labs will be increased many fold. Since, the Disha Bill mandates quick justice to the victims, within three weeks from the date of the crime happens. It means, the police have to complete the investigation, get the forensic lab reports, submit the entire case details along with the supporting evidence to the Disha Special Courts. At the same time, the Courts also have to deliver justice shortly, after following the due procedure.
The government already proposed to establish 18 Disha Police Stations and 13 Disha Special Courts for speedy trial. The police stations will be established in both rural and urban areas. The Courts will be established at all the thirteen districts headquarters.
In the entire process of investigation, gathering evidence and trial in the Courts, the Forensic Labs reports will play a major role establishing the evidence, said a senior police officer.
Speaking to The Hans India, the Home Minister M Sucharitha said that the Chief Minister has given formal approval for recruiting the required employees for the Forensic Laboratories. She said that the labs will be established shortly and the groundwork is in progress for that.
The Minister further explained that the Chief Minister is keen in creating perfect infrastructure for the effective implementation of the AP Disha Bill, as soon as the Parliament enacts it. It is known that the AP Legislative Assembly already passed the Bill with certain Amendments to the CrPC and sent it to the Parliament. Now, the union government also reacted positively towards the AP Government's proposal.
