Andhra Pradesh Heavy Rains: Kundu River in Kurnool District Is Flowing At An Alarming Rate

Kurnool and YSR districts have been hit by heavy rains. River Kundu is flowing at high speed. From the last week, the villages Peddamudiyam, Nemalidinne, Garshalur, Chinnamudiyam, Wuppalur, and Balpana Gudur villages have dipped in floods. The people of those villages have no access to the city and expressed their anger over revenue authorities for not taking any rescue operations. The people are worried about the increase in the floods as the rains are continuing.

Heavy rains are widespread in Banaganapalle constituency. Roads between Kovalekantla-Jammalamadu and Kovalekantla-Nanda have stopped. As the Kundu River flows through, the intersection between Banaganapalle-Raipadu road is disrupted. Villages of Lingala, Vallampadu, Peddakopperla, M Govindinne and ChinnaKopperla dipped in floods. Heavy rains were also reported in Allagadda, Rudravaram, Sirivella, Chagalamurri, Uyyalawada and Doranipada zones.

MLA Bijendra Reddy visited flood-affected areas and has directed officials to provide meals and medical camps to the victims. The Bellary Bridge collapsed due to floods near Halaharwi in Kurnool district. The traffic at Proddatur-Allagadda main road at Rajupalem of YSR Kadapa district was disrupted.
