Andhra Pradesh Police on high alert amid Coronavirus second wave: DGP Gautam Sawang
Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang said the police department was on high alert in the wake of the coronavirus second wave. He said they were taking precautionary measures in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he advised people to be more vigilant in the wake of the second wave. He said the precautionary review was conducted with the medical department officials and the collectors and SPs were being consulted.
Precautions are advised during New Year celebrations. CCTV cameras have been set up at police stations as well as lockups. He said the decision was taken after consultation with the government. He advised the people to take more precautions as it is winter.
In the meanwhile, DGP Gautam Sawang briefed the media on various issues. He said that the police department had faced many challenges in 2020 and lauded police who worked tirelessly to protect public health in the coronavirus times.
On Wednesday he held a police department annual report media conference. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Andhra Pradesh government had responded quickly to the covid containment. He said that we have successfully faced the corona under the guidance of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. As many as 14,000 AP policemen were affected with dreadful virus of which 109 were killed.
