Andhra Pradesh reports 33 new COVID-19 cases, one death, tally moves to 2874

Andhra Pradesh has registered 33 new coronavirus cases, taking the number of total confirmed infections to 2,874 on Friday. One more Covid-19 patient from Kurnool died of the dreadful virus taking the total death toll to 60.

In the state health bulletin released by the government, as many as 777 coronavirus patients are in the hospital undergoing treatment while 2037 have been discharged. Out of 11,638 samples tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 33 tested positive for coronavirus while 79 have been discharged. Among the new cases, 4 from Chittoor, two from Nellore have links to the Koyembedu market in Tamil Nadu.

The health department also reported 111 cumulative Covid-19 positive cases from foreign returnees. All these cases are active. While the cumulative cases from other states 345 have tested coronavirus positive on Friday. The state nodal officer has stopped reporting the district-wise COVID-19 data, which has received the criticism from all sections of the people. Meanwhile, the state is easing the lockdown despite the increase in cases. As part if COVID-19 measures, the government has distributed the fifth phase of free ration to poot on Friday.
