Andhra Pradesh: Two secretariat employees to withdraw pension money from bank

The responsibility of withdrawing the money released by the state government for the pensions of the elderly from the banks will now be carried out by the two secretariat employees. To this extent, AMD Imtiaz, CEO of Rural Poverty Alleviation Organization (SERP), gave an order on Saturday. Secretary of Panchayat and Secretary of Welfare and Education both ordered to withdraw money from banks.

In urban areas, Ward Admin Secretary and Welfare Development Secretary have made responsibility should be carried out. The government is providing Rs.1,750 crore as pensions every month. The pension money is deposited in the bank accounts of the respective secretariats as per the number of beneficiaries. One of the secretariat staff will go to the bank and bring the money and hand it over to the volunteers.

At present, welfare and education secretary in village secretariats and ward welfare development secretaries in towns are withdrawing money from banks. At some places, thefts are taking place when staff are withdrawing cash. Due to this, the government has to release the funds again so that the beneficiaries do not suffer.

On April 3, in Makavarapalem mandal of Anakapalli district, a female secretary employee was robbed of Rs. 16.15 lakhs from the bank. Fresh orders have been issued to prevent such incidents. Volunteers are advised to take precautions from the time pension money is drawn from the banks until the cash is distributed. Both the secretariat employees should be responsible for the cash amd should withdraw money under the supervision of MPDOs and Municipal Commissioners.
