Andhra University ranks fourth in academics and research
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University has secured the fourth rank in academics and research in the country by the prestigious Nature Index Ranking Group, its Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy said here on Saturday.
Expressing happiness over the ranking that the Andhra University scored, the V-C said that due to the efforts made by teaching staff, supporting the community and the directions given by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the varsity could achieve a record progress during the last one year.
IIT-Bhubaneswar and IIT-Bombay secured first and second ranks respectively and Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and IITH, Hyderabad shared third rank, while Andhra University bagged the fourth rank in academic and research output.
The AU V-C said the Andhra University was making all efforts to reach the first position in the country. Further, he said the institution during the last one year has been contemplating bringing in academic reforms, emphasising on a student-centric academic environment. Listing out some of the initiatives, Prof Prasad Reddy said that the concept of virtual police station has been hailed by all sections. Establishment of Skill Development Centre for the Fishermen in the entire coast, full-fledged Centre for Defence Studies were among other developments, he added. On this occasion, the V-C thanked the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Education Minister A Suresh and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy for extending their support to the institution on all fronts.
