Andhrapradesh: Total lockdown in Machilipatnam
Machilipatnam: Total lockdown was observed in Machilipatnam on Sunday in response to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Janata Curfew as people stayed indoors since morning to evening.
As the Corona cases are reported across India, people in Krishna district have decided to stay indoors and extend full support to the Janata Curfew on Sunday. Police, municipal and medical and health department personnel maintained strict vigil and prevented people from roaming on the roads.
District additional superintendent of police M Sattibabu personally visited Koneru centre and other areas in Machilipatnam and asked the police to prevent people from roaming on the roads.
The police erected barricades and police vehicles were deployed in different parts of the Port town and counseled the people to stay at homes to check the spread of Coronavirus. It may be noted that educational institutions already closed. All commercial establishments were closed in the town and traders extended full support for Janata Curfew.
