Announcement on Amaravati to be made soon, says Botcha Satyanarayana
Visakhapatnam: Municipal administration and urban development minister Botcha Satyanarayana said the government would soon make an announcement on the capital.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Satyanarayana said the construction cost was more in the capital region than the normal value. As a result, the burden would be more on the exchequer.
He said that Sivaramakrishna Committee pointed out that Amaravati is not safe place for developing into a capital city as the region is facing the flood threat. He alleged that people's money was misused by the TDP government. Since a major part of Amaravati is flood-prone, the minister pointed out the expenditure on the construction process in Amaravati is doubled in comparison to other regions.
On the floods, the Minister said the government was successful in minimising the damage and preventing the human loss. Though Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is on tour abroad, he is reviewing the situation from time to time and in touch with ministers concerned.
Taking a dig at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, he said the Leader of Opposition was trying to politicise every step taken by Jagan Mohan Reddy. When asked the government was targeting only TDP leaders while demolishing illegal structures, he said none would be spared including the YSRCP leaders.
On the operation of drone over the residence of Naidu, the minister said drones were deployed to monitor flood situation in the area. There was no security breach in it, he clarified. The TDP was raking up an unnecessary controversy over it, Satyanarayana alleged.
On investments, he said Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to attract industrialists to the state. He pointed out that Naidu, despite holding a number of partnership summits failed to get any major project. The meet was attended by Chairman of VMRDA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and party leaders.
