Amaravati: TDP MP Galla Jaya Dev lambasted the State government and Acharya Nagarjuna University for suspending four students on Sunday for participating in the ongoing protest against the three capitals.

"ANU suspending 4 students for participating in pro-Amaravati programme, & calling them anti-govt is highly condemnable. 2 of them are pursuing journalism.

1st don't they have the right to peaceful protest? 2nd isn't the role of a journalist to question wrong decisions of govt?" (sic), he said in a tweet.

The TDP leader said Aswirvadam and Naveen from Journalism and Mass Communications department and Raju and Yedukondalu from English department were suspended from the university hostel by the Chief Warden, as per the instructions of the ANU Vice-Chancellor.

In its suspension order, the university clearly mentioned that, "They have participated in the anti-government activities resorted to by the AP JAC of Amaravati.

The issue is referred to the University Disciplinary Committee to seek explanation from the students and decide the period of punishment."
