AP Cabinet to meet on Wednesday, likely to finalise the reservations in Local Body elections

In the wake of High Court's order on the reservations in Local Body elections stating not to exceed fifty percent, the YSRCP government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is making arrangements to go for the elections as per the High Court's orders. In the backdrop, the government has decided to hold the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, March 4.

The cabinet chaired by Jagan Mohan Reddy would discuss on High Court's verdict and likely to take suggestion from the officials to move Supreme Court on the issue. However, going by the reports from the government sources, the state government is said to held elections without exceeding 50 Percent reservations. The cabinet to take decision to this extent on Wednesday.

On the other hand, it is also reported that the government is likely to held the budget session only after the completion of the local body elections and making all arrangements to finish the elections as per schedule. The government is would release the gazette notification on Wednesday after discussing in the cabinet.

The TDP leaders are staging protests against the minimising the reservations to Backward Castes in ensuing elections. They allege the government of injustice met to the BCs. As per the latest information, the government, which took a decision of providing 34 percent reservations to BCs will now stick to the 24.15 percent as the high court has cancelled the GO 176 issued by AP government and recommendations made in Panchayat act.
