AP Endowments Minister releases Agama priests exam results
Amaravati: The results of the exam conducted for Agama priests on July 13, 14 this year were released by Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas on Thursday at Secretariat at a press conference. He said that after 2013 no one had conducted exams for the priest and this government is here to solve the problems of them.
A total of 5,176 members attended the exam and 4,396 qualified. Among the qualified 2,000 secured first-class marks, 1,156 secured second class marks and 247 secured third class marks. About 993 members qualified in oral and practical tests, and 743 members failed in the exam. The overall pass percentage is 84.93 and people who want to opt for recounting can apply till November 25, at Endowment department Commissioners office, said Minister Srinivas.
Deputy Speaker Kona Raghupathi said that the government is confined to its promise and solving the problems that priests' are facing. It is a good sign that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy responded on the priests' problems and instructed the Endowments department to issue a GO on the inheritance of priesthood.
MLA Malladhi Vishnu said that it is appreciable that exams have been conducted within two months of the government. He congratulated the qualified priests and said 'the government has filled self-confidence in priests.'
Endowment department commissioner Padma said that the exams have been conducted transparently.
Andhra Pradesh Priest Association chairman Kamesh Sharma participated in the program.
