AP ESI Scam: ACB sleuths arrests IMS director Dr Ramesh Kumar in Tirupati

After the arrest of former minister and TDP MLA Atchannaidu, the ACB sleuths have arrested the former ESI director Ramesh Kumar in ESI scam revealed by the Vigilance and enforcement directorate. The ACB is likely to arrest more people in the scam.

The duo were accused of procuring surgical equipment and medicines without tenders. Vigilance and enforcement officials have already investigated the scam and found large number of irregularities in the ESI between 2014-2019. The ACB has already recorded the statements of 8 officers.

As many as 150 crore were spent extra on the original price for procuring biometric machines for Rs. 70,000 instead not actual Rs. 16,000 with fake quotations. ACB makes arrests based on vigilance report and the son of the former minister seems to have played a major role in the tendering of the purchases.
