AP Govt hikes Insurance coverage to the police department
CM YS Jagan said that the value of the group's insurance of Police Welfare Fund, which is jointly run by the state government and the police. The government and the police departments paid Rs 4.74 crore to United India Insurance Company in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at a CM camp office on Wednesday. "After almost 20 years there has been an increase in police group insurance," said CM Jagan.
"In the past, the constable to ASI had been paying around Rs 13 lakh as insurance, and this time it has been increased to Rs 20 lakh," CM said. In the same manner, Rs 35 lakh worth insurance is given to Sub Inspectors to the CI's. The DSP and then the level officers are paid Rs. 45 lakh under group insurance.
The insurance of this group will cover accidents. "If police die naturally, he will get and a sum of Rs. 30 lakhs, while any police die in a terrorist attack, Rs. 40 lakh insurance will be covered. Of these, 64,719 families of police personnel get insurance coverage," CM Jagan said. These policies will be implemented even after retirement. Representatives of United India Insurance Company including Home Minister Suchitra, DGP Gautam Sawang and Additional DG Ravi Shankar Ayyanar were present.
