AP govt. issues orders to pay deferred salary to employees in December and January

The government on Tuesday issued orders to pay the salaries, honorariums and pensions deferred in March 2020 due to covid in the month of December. To this end, Finance Secretary SS Rawat has directed that arrangements be made to pay the arrears for the months of March and April. In addition, the government has made it clear that the reduced wages in April will be paid in December and January 2021 respectively.

Amid Coronavirus outbreak in the month of March and the slow down of economy in the state, the government has deducted the salary for the government employees based on the cadre of the jobs. Meanwhile, the petitions have been filed in the High Court against the deduction demanding to pay the the deferred salaries with an interest of twelve percent. But the government had made their arguments and backed their move. The Andhra Pradesh government employees JAC has welcomed the move of paying deferred salary in two installments.

The government has already took the decision to pay the deferred salaries to pensioners as well in two installments. On the other hand, it is known that the AP government has issued orders on DA hike for state government employees. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also agreed. It said it was increasing the drought allowance to 3.144 per cent, which was increased in July 2018. With this, the drought allowance for them has increased from 27.248 to 30.392.
