AP High Court dismisses petition against CM YS Jagan over TTD declaration issue

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has received a sigh of relief in the AP High Court. The High Court dismissed the petition filed against CM Jagan seeking restraint from continuing in his post. The judge dismissed the petition because the petitioner had not submitted sufficient evidence to prove that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is a Christian.

The court said that he could not be considered a Christian just for attending Christian gospel conventions and prayers in the church. "Jagan went to Thirumala to submit the silks at the invitation of TTD, so there was no need to give a declaration," the court said. A. Sudhakar Babu of Guntur District Amaravati Mandal Vaikunthapura has approached the High Court against TTD EO for allowing YS Jagan to offer silk robes without a declaration.

The petitioner sought to stop YS Jagan from continuing in the CM posts for negligence in submitting the declaration. The High Court, after hearing the arguments of both the parties said that a declaration under rule 136 should be submitted only when a non-Hindu person visits the TTD in a personal capacity.
