AP High court stays GO over shifting Vigilance wing to Kurnool
The AP High Court has given stay over the GO of shifting Vigilance Commissioner and Commissionerate of inquiries offices to Kurnool. Over the petitions filed over the relocation of the government offices, the court took up the hearing and announced its verdict on Friday (March 20).
After taking the decision of making three capitals in the state, the government has issued GO No 13 shifting the offices to Kurnool on January 31st. Challenging this decision, a farmer K Giridhar of Tallayapalem and Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi secretary Tirupathi Rao filed separate petitions in the court.
The court held hearings on these petitions. A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Jk Maheshwari and Justice N Jayasurya heard the arguments on behalf of the petitioner and the government.
During the hearing, AG said to the court that these offices are being shifted to Kurnool as there is no sufficient space in Amaravati, which was opposed by the petitioner's lawyer that the offices were deliberately moved.
Petitioner's lawyer brought to the court notice that the GO No 13 doesn't contain the signature of the Chief Secretary. On hearing the arguments of both sides, the court has issued an interim order and stays the GO issued by the state government.
