AP orders probe into TTD gold seizure

Tirupati: In a significant development, Chief Secretary L V Subramanyam ordered an inquiry into the controversial impounding of 1,331 kg gold in Tamil Nadu by the police when Punjab National Bank staff was bringing it to hand over to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

It is learnt that Subramanyam ordered principal secretary revenue (endowments) Manmohan Singh to probe into the gold issue that turned into a major controversy and submit his report by May 23.

He also asked Manmohan to visit Tirumala-Tirupati to find out the circumstances that led to the seizure of the gold and those responsible for it.
