AP police signs MoU with IIDT and skill development corporation on the occasion of police duty meet

Tirupati: Octopus, a counter-terrorist operations wing in AP Police has grabbed all the youngsters and students attention in State Level Police Duty Meet 2020 IGNITE which was going on in Tirupati city for the last two days. Octopus commando unit has displayed their eye catch equipment and defence tools in the police duty meet.

Ultra-modern equipment with the latest technology of Octopus has created enthusiasm among the students, youngsters who have been visiting the IGNITE.

AP Police Department as part of duty meet they set up a special stall with Octopus Commando Unit along with their weapons and latest equipment which they have procured for counter-terrorist operations.

The main highlight of the octopus stall is Rs 1 crore worth nano helicopter camera which would work in night vision, bad weather conditions and even in storms. It is grabbing the attention of all the visitors in the AP Police Duty Meet. This was procured from Narve country by the AP Police. It was stood up in first place to grab the visitors attention.

Octopus Commando Unit head Narasimha Rao told that " Nano Helicopter will know the terrorist activities from long distance and plan for attack. It will be worked at the height of 3 km and capture photos, videos till 1 km above distance. It is useful to get an upper hand over terrorists during the operation".

He added that this nano drone can fly nonstop more than 30 minutes in the air at any adverse weather conditions, we can watch the movements of terrorists through this equipment and take high-quality pictures and photos from far away.

Another one more attraction of the Octopus stall is unmanned bomb disposal robots. This was manufactured in Canada Country. AP Police purchased this from that country for removing bombs , IEDs and other latest explosives which were dangerous and a threat to society.

Unit in charge Narasimha Rao said that at a cost of Rs 1.50 crores AP Police has purchased this latest small robot like a Hitachi model with artificial hand and wheels. "We can remove the bombs easily by using this robot during the counter terrorist operations without any causality, this robot moves by chain wheels at any surface like mud, hard soil and terrains. He added.

Rao further said that this type of equipment was available with AP Police Octopus unit only, no other state police departments procured these types of the latest equipment.

Students were seen waiting in large scale in this stall to get to know the automatic sophisticated weapons like AK 47, sniper shotguns, other German and Austria made guns which were available with commandos for using counter terrorist attacks. More than 1.5 km range shotguns were with the octopus unit. Snipers (sharp shooters in commando unit) have explained all the guns' functioning and range to the students.
