AP Power officials meet Dhamadhikari committee, argues they can't absorb Telangana employees

Update: 2020-02-24 16:37 IST

The officials of Andhra Pradesh power department on Sunday have met with Dharmadhikari committee appointed by the Supreme Court to discuss the issue of division of power staff between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is known that the one-man Justice DM Dharmadhikari committee was appointed by the SC to resolve the issue of allocation of power sector employees between the two states after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

The committee had given its report in last December directing the Andhra Pradesh power utilities to absorb 655 employees from Telangana. However, the Andhra power companies refused to it and challenged the committee's decision in the Supreme Court to which the Supreme Court also refused to intervene and asked the companies to move committee stating the decision of the committee to be final.

According to reports, the Andhra power utilities on Sunday strongly argued that absorbing the 655 employees would create a financial burden on them. They also argued that the employees must be divided as per the ratios and urged the committee to withdraw the directives as it would lay the huge burden on the government.

The employees who were relieved from Telangana appealed the committee to ensure that their salaries are paid. However, it is to be seen what the committee would decide on this vendetta.
