APPOA deplores TDP leaders for derogatory remarks
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Police officers Association (APPOA) on Saturday condemned the comments made by the TDP leaders against the DGP D Gautam Sawang and other police officers in connection with the attack on the convoy of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Amaravati on Thursday.
APPOA president J Srinivasa Rao, general secretary Md Mastan Khan, joint Secretary Bandaru Yesu and others were addressing a media conference at the press club.
Srinivasa Rao said the APPOA strongly condemned the comments made by some TDP leaders that the police had given permission to the villagers to stage protests and hurl slippers and stones on the vehicle of Naidu.
He alleged the TDP leaders were trying to belittle the police by leveling false charges against the DGP Gautam Sawang.
The TDP would raise hue and cry if the permission was not given to Naidu to tour the capital region. The TDP is finding fault with the police for giving permission to the party president.
He demanded that the TDP leaders withdraw their comments made against the DGP and the state police. The police responded on Saturday to the comments made by the TDP leaders after convoy of Naidu came under attack.
He said the police had already informed the TDP leaders that some problems would arise in Amaravati and requested the TDP leaders to cancel the visit to Amaravati.
APPOA General Secretary Mastan Khan said the police too were part of the society. He requested the TDP leaders to introspect on their comments. It was not culture of the police to encourage violence, he said.
He denied that that a lathi too was hurled on a vehicle in which Naidu was travelling.
