APSRTC amasses Rs. 29,44 crore revenue in last 16 days, likely to increase services

APSRTC buses, which have been limited to the depots for nearly two months amid lockdown imposed following the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic, have been hit the roads since May 21. Within the last 16 days, APSRTC has amassed Rs. 29.44 crore, which means that on an average, Rs. 1.84 crore was collected per day. As per the statistical data 58 lakh revenue was amassed through online reservation and Rs. 1.26 crore from offline revenue.

In the past, only 12% of bookings were made online and now it has reached 32 per cent due to regulations imposed due the spread of coronavirus. An average of 1,922 booking points served for offline ticket bookings. Initially, only 17% of operations were launched by APSRTC with over 14,000 buses covering all types of services. On an average 2,323 buses were travelled per day.

The APSRTC achieved an average of 49 per cent occupancy travelling 8.05 lakh kilometers per day. The average cost per bus is stood at Rs. 7,955. As a result, the officials of the APSRTC are working to increase bus services from Monday. The number of seats will be reduced and the buses will be riding in the same manner. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney has written to Telangana, Karnataka and Odisha and sought permission to run interstate services.
