APSRTC takes steps to check spread of coronavirus at Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is taking measures to check the spread of coronavirus and has been trying to keep the bus stand premises clean and maintain hygiene by sprinkling sodium hypochlorite on the benches, chairs, near the toilets, enquiry counters, ticket issuing counters and other public places where public moment is very. The APSRTC has staff are creating awareness among the bus passengers and giving suggestions to check the spread of Corona as well as safety measures not to get infected.

The APSRTC Vijayawada region has operated more buses on Thursday and Friday for the convenience of students, who can go to their native places from the hostels of schools and colleges due to the holidays declared by the State Government in view of the threat of Coronavirus. More than one lakh students studying intermediate and other courses are living in the hostels located in and around Vijayawada. Now, majority students are leaving the hostels and going to their native places.

Regional Manager G Nagendra Prasad has said the number of passengers travelling in the APSRTC buses may come down from tomorrow due to the emergency declared by the government in view of Corona virus spreading across India. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Bus station is the biggest bus stand in Andhra Pradesh and more than 1500 buses will arrive and department from the bus station.

On the other hand, the APSRTC drivers and conductors are asking the RTC to supply facial masks for safety.
