APSRTC to operate 3,607 special services for Sankranti
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 3,607 special buses for the Sankranti season next month. Of the total 3,607 buses, the highest number of 1,251 will be operated from Hyderabad and other Telangana districts to various parts of Andhra Pradesh from January 8 to 13. As many as 433 special buses will be run from Bengaluru to various destinations in the State and 133 special buses from Chennai.
Sankranti is the first and one of the most important festivals for the Telugu people in the year. Lakhs of people hailing from coastal districts settled in Hyderabad, Rangareddy in Telangana, Bengaluru and Chennai will come back to their native places to celebrate the festival in a grand manner.
A total of 1,817 services will be operated from other States to Andhra Pradesh. RTC executive director (operations) K S Brahmananda Reddy in a press release said that 201 special buses will be operated from various parts of AP to Vijayawada and 551 buses to Visakhapatnam. Besides, 1,038 buses will be operated between various destinations. The RTC had operated more than 2,000 buses last year for Sankranti season. Due to Covid pandemic and the agreement reached between the APSRTC and TSRTC on sharing of routes, the number of special buses to be operated from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh may come down this festive season.
