Arrangements for CM's visit on Oct 10 reviewed in Anantapur

Anantapur: Minister for BC Welfare M Sankara Narayana has called upon concerned officials to make Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to the district on October 10 for launching the 'YSR Kanti Velugu' a grand success.

Addressing a review meeting with top district officials including District Collector S Sathyanarayana and SP B Sathya Yesu Babu and other district officers, he said the 'YSR Kanti Velugu' would cover all school children for Ophthalmic tests in the first phase and in the second phase, all sections of people would be covered in the state.

Thousands of poor children were losing sight due to late detection of their eye problems, he said and added spectacles would be given free of cost and surgeries, if required, would be conducted free of cost.

District Collector Sathyanarayana said that according to a census, 18 per cent of the population were suffering from eye problems and the scheme would be a boon to rural and urban poor. He said all arrangements are being made for the Chief Minister's visit and for launching of scheme from the district.

From October 10-20, screening of patients will be done. SP Yesu Babu said that all security measures are being taken for the visit of the Chief Minister. MLA Anantha Venkatarama Reddy appealed to people to make the Chief Minister's visit a grand success.
