Amaravati: The CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna said that the arrest of TDP MLA Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, just four days ahead of the commencement of Assembly budget session was giving a wrong signal to the society, in a statement on Friday. He said that as the government arrested the MLA, it was trying to suppress the voice of the opposition in the Assembly during the ensuing session.

He explained that no one in the State was against arrest or punishment to the guilty, if proved, but the time of action against the TDP leader was giving a scope for suspecting political vendetta.

He added that if the government had valid proof, then they could arrest Atchannaidu after the completion of the Assembly session. Since he would not leave the State or country like a criminal, the government must act in a proper manner, he opined.
