Arrest of TDP leaders sparks protest by MP

Bhimavaram: The police thwarted the attempt of the TDP leaders to take out a rally in the town protesting the closure of Anna canteens on Friday. They arrested a few leaders on their way to organise the rally followed by dharna. The police said the leaders did not take prior permission for the rally and dharna.

Former RTC regional chairman Mente Parthasarathy, Bhimavaram AMC former chairman Kolla Nageswara Rao, Bhimavaram municipality former chairperson M Narayanamma and others were arrested midway attending for rally. They were shifted to police station where TDP district president Thota Sitaramalakshmi rushed and expressed anger over police action.

She questioned Circle Inspector Govindarajulu how could they arrest TDP leaders on their way to hold a peaceful rally.. The Rajya Sabha member warned the police of serious consequences if they failed to release the arrested leaders immediately.
