Attacks on journalists, media houses condemned: TDP
Guntur: The TDP politburo meeting held at the party's state office here on Thursday expressed serious concern over the increased attacks on the journalists and media houses after the YSRCP government came to power.
The meeting presided over by TDP surpremo N Chandrababu Naidu also condemned the brutal killing of K Satyanarayana, a vernacular journalist in East Godavari district. The meeting felt that as soon as Y S Jaganmohan Reddy took charge as the Chief Minister, the government imposed restrictions on TV channels ABN and TV5 in the state.
The meeting also recalled the attack on Prasad, editor of Zameen Rytu weekly magazine, by YSRCP MLA from Nellore Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, along with his followers. Despite the editor lodging a complaint with the police, the meeting felt that the government did not initiate any steps in this regard.
The meeting also condemned registering of false cases against 14 TDP leaders including MLAs K Atchen Naidu, Karanam Balaram and former ministers Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Ch Ayyana Patrudu.
The meeting felt that even after seven months of murder of a YSRCP leader in Pulivendula in Kadapa district in the Chief Minister's home constituency, the police failed to crack the case. The meeting also took serious note on law and order situation in the state.
The meeting also opposed uranium mining in Kadapa and Kurnool districts. The meeting felt that uranium mining will pollute the water, soil and environment in the area and demanded to stop mining immediately. The meeting mourned the death of former Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad and those who met water grave in boat tragedy in the River Godavari.
