AU to celebrate Formation Day on April 26

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University Formation Day will be held at Dr YVS Murty Auditorium on April 26, according to the varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao.

Addressing the media here on Monday, the VC said the retired faculty who crossed 80 years would be felicitated on the occasion. He said Prof Bharadwaja will take part in the celebrations as chief guest. Urging the government to provide basic facilities for setting up of the Central Tribal University for which AU is a mentor, he said the university would start functioning from this academic year. He said over 500-acre site was allotted for the same in Kothavalasa mandal, Vizianagaram district. An expert committee was preparing a detailed project report for the next seven years, he added.

An entrance test would be conducted in coordination with the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University on June 1 and 2. The last date for submission of application was May 16, he said. Later, the V-C released the annual journal of the AU College of Arts and Commerce. AU Registrar K Niranjan also attended the conference.
