Aurobindo workers to observe indefinite strike
Srikakulam: Workers of Aurobindo Pharmaceutical Ltd have decided to observe indefinite strike as the management has been neglecting their charter of demands for the last 14 months. They conducted a collective discussion on solving of their issues with the management under the aegis of CITU at the CITU division office at Pydibhimavaram on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, CITU State vice-president Duppala Govinda Rao said as part of intensifying agitation, the workers will obtain signatures of residents of all surrounding villages of the company from June 28 by highlighting how the
management is exploiting the workers. "We will also conduct gram sabhas at all villages which are being affected by the company pollution and how the management is escaping by not providing jobs to local youth.
We will also explain the villagers over the responsibilities of company to prevent pollution and how the company evading the expenditure on development of these villages as part of corporate social responsibility," CITU State vice-president said.
The date for indefinite strike will be announced soon after the conclusion of agitations and discussions in all villages, said workers union leaders K Guru Naidu, L Rambabu, S Appala Raju and N Tharakeswara Rao.
