Awareness camp on paralysis by Latha Hospital in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: As part of social responsibility activity, Latha Super Speciality Hospital in association with Vijayawada Walkers Association organised an awareness programme on paralysis at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium to mark 'World Stroke Day' on Tuesday.
The doctors of the Latha Hospital created awareness among the people on paralysis and clarified various doubts such as who are prone to it, what is the first aid to be taken to the person who suffers it, precautions to be taken and symptoms of paralysis.
Dr Challasani Pramod said the disease attacks the nerve cells responsible for control the voluntary muscles. The symptoms of paralysis include cramping, twitching, or stiffness of the muscles, slurred nasal speech, difficulty in swallowing or chewing and muscle weakness in an arm or leg, said that doctor.
Dr D Rajeswari, Dr P E Sonilal, Dr Sudheer Chakravarthi, Dr B Sridhar, P Chinnagandhi and members of walker association were present.
