Awareness progamme on eye sight held in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: An awareness programme was organised at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium by Karuna Eye Bank founder Dara Karunasree to mark World Sight Day here on Thursday. World Sight Day is observed on the second Thursday of October every year.

Speaking on the occasion, Karunasree said that awareness should be created among people on the importance of eye. She said that only with awareness people would come forward to donate eyes which were very important at the present juncture.

She appealed to the government to include Eye Donation in the curriculum to create awareness and importance of eyes so that people will voluntarily come forward to donate eyes.

If people feel the responsibility to donate eyes, very soon we can see a blind-free AP, she said. Dr Ramakrishna, Dr Madhuri, Dr Jaya Sudheer, Yugandher, students and others were present.
