Awareness rallies on malaria on April 25

Eluru: There is an urgent need to create awareness among the people on diseases caused by mosquito bites on the occasion of World Malaria Day on April 25, according to District Collector Praveen Kumar. He released awareness posters and pamphlets on malaria, dengue and chicken gunya here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector Kumar said that it was important to analyze the diseases of the previous year and find out reasons for the spread of mosquitoes. Awareness camps whould be launched formally in the Agency Areas.

The District Collector said that last year, 139 villages in five tribal mandals have been identified as high risk areas for the4 spread of malaria. Another 75 villages have been identified as high risk areas for dengue, he added. He directed the officials to implement the preventive measures in advance to check the spread of the diseases in these areas. The Collector also announced anti-larva spraying schedule on the occasion.
