Banana Research Centre to come up in Kadapa soon
Kadapa: Horticulture Commissioner Chiranjeevi Chowdary has said that government is keen on spending funds in a big way to transform Kadapa district as horticultural hub.
Addressing a one-day regional work shop organised for Banana traders, purchasers, farmers and scientists here on Tuesday, he said that there was huge demand for Banana crop grown in Pulivendula, and Railway Kodur mandals.
Bananas are being exported to Delhi, Noida, Utter Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and, Karnataka states. He said that government will establish Banana Research Centre in the district soon. Joint Collector Gouthami said that Kadapa district is having suitable soil for growing various horticulture crops like Banana, Mango, Papaya than traditional crops like paddy.
On the occasion scientists gave technical advices on how to secure rich yielding with less water management and low investments for banana crop through power point presentation. Horticulture Joint Director J Venkateswarlu, AP Micro Irrigation Project Madhusudhana Reddy, traders, farmers, scientists, from Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor districts participated in the programme.
