Belt shop organisers warned

Kurnool: Excise CI M Padmavathi has warned of invoking Preventive Detention (PD) Act against belt shop organisers. The Excise department has organised an awareness programme on the disadvantages of belt shops in E Thandrapadu on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the CI said that organising belt shops is a serious crime. If any person is found organising belt shops in the village then PD Act would be invoked, she warned.

Around 50 to 60 villagers participated in the awareness meet. Of the 60 villagers, around 10 persons have been identified as belt shop organisers. Giving a strict warning to the belt shop organisers, Padmavathi advised them to lead a normal live instead of facing court cases. If caught while selling liquor then they will be produced in the court after filing a case, she mentioned.

The CI further said consumption of alcohol is injurious to health. Abiding by the instructions of the CI, they have assured Padmavathi of staying away from belt shop businesses. SIs Shankar, Hari Krishna, Naveen, Mallikarjuna, Madanna, Lakshmanna and other staff participated in the awareness meet.
