Benefits under PM-CARES released for Covid-19 orphans
Eluru: If one wants to reach higher levels in life, they should study hard as development is possible only through education, stated district Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh. He presented financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh from PM CARES to the children, who lost their parents due to Covid, at the Collectorate here on Friday.
Addressing the participants, the Collector said that they have identified 56 boys and girls, who lost their parents due to Covid in West Godavari district and made a fixed deposit of Rs 10 lakh under PM CARES as post office deposit scheme. For those aged below 18 years, interest on the fixed deposit will be paid at the rate of Rs 5,000 per month till they turn 18 years, and after that, Rs 10 lakh will be provided.
He said that education and accommodation facilities would be provided to those, who do not have relatives to stay with. Training would be given in skill development in their fields of interest and job and employment opportunities will be provided.
The Collector said that he would meet them once a year and will know their problems and try to solve them, conduct health tests and provide treatment if needed. The district child welfare officer was entrusted with the responsibility of looking after their well-being.
NCD Program Officer and RBKS district coordinator Dr CH Manasa, ICDS Project Officer KVL Padmavathy, District Child Welfare Officer Suryachakraveni, Child Welfare Officer Rajesh and Prabhruthulu and others participated in the programme.
